These stud earrings were commissioned as a follow-on to one of our favourite family-heirloom pieces: a ruby and diamond necklace designed to be dismantled into three separate pendants for our customer’s children. She loved wearing the necklace so much that she came back to us for a pair of earrings to match.
The same ruby-and-diamond triangle motif from the necklace reappears here at stud scale, set in the same 18ct gold with the same hand-textured, satin finish.
Satin finish is a traditional technique for decorating precious metal: a wire brush or polishing tool scores the surface with fine lines, leaving a soft, brushed texture rather than a high polish. On a small piece like a stud earring, that same texture reads as a fine, matte shimmer rather than a mirror shine.
