Honest & obligation-free

Most jewellery isn’t beyond saving. It’s just waiting for the right pair of hands. A worn claw, a thin shank, a snapped chain: small things, quietly looked after, so a piece can keep being worn.

Repaired at our own bench. Many high-street chains post your whole repair off to a central workshop for weeks, and you never meet the person doing it. With us it is worked on by hand by the goldsmiths who make our bespoke pieces, and most repairs are back with you promptly. Where a job needs a specialist stage such as fine setting or casting, it goes only to specialists we know by name.

Honest advice, always. We’ll tell you what a piece needs and what it doesn’t; whether to leave well alone.

This little shop in Diss is absolutely fantastic – the kindness, knowledge and patience of the staff is incredible. I have purchased several items from this shop and each time I have been very satisfied. I recently purchased a pre loved eternity ring from them which had to be re-sized twice and it came back absolutely perfect. I would thoroughly recommend this shop for anybody in the future looking to purchase that special piece of jewellery – you will not be disappointed.

James repaired a bracelet and ring for me that several other jewellers had been unable to fix. The repair is of a very high quality, the price was very reasonable and the service was speedy and friendly. I would definitely recommend The Jewellery Workshop to others and would use again myself for any future repairs.

Having took an eternity ring into this lovely jewellery workshop for an insurance valuation, we were very pleased by the excellent personal service we received. The lady who dealt with our jewellery was brilliant and very helpful. The ring had to be sent away to be valued and thanks to her, the documentation we needed came back really fast. We would definitely recommend this shop for any jewellery needs!

They were super helpful and patient. Sophie sourced some earrings for me, as they didn’t have my required ones in their stock. She was lovely, very helpful and patient. I highly recommend them and they will be my first port of call for jewellery in the future. They stock many beautiful items.

I had to have my engagement ring repaired as it was antique and I had damaged it. The repair is perfect matching all of the antique stones and gold. At the same time my husband commissioned a ring for me in an antique design. The design was perfect and the stones gorgeous we were guided through all stages with the most beautiful drawings and help without any pressure at all. It was a wonderful experience and I now own the most beautiful personal ring. Thanks so much.

Due to personal medical issues I needed an urgent repair to my wedding ring. James and Mark repaired the ring the same afternoon and refused payment. They deserve maximum praise and thanks. Its a perfect repair of a celtic ring and was generous and sensitive service. I had been recommended to use them by another satisfied customer.

Repairs — questions

Pop in to ask

How much does jewellery repair cost?

It depends on the piece and the work involved, but as a guide: chain and clasp repairs start from around £25, ring resizing and claw re-tipping from £45, stone setting from £40, and rhodium re-plating from £30. Because our prices move with the gold price, we always give you an honest quote in person before any work begins.

How much does ring resizing cost?

Ring resizing starts from around £45. The exact cost depends on the metal and how far the size is moved. Silver sits at the lower end, gold and platinum a little more, and eternity or heavily set bands can be more again. We’ll confirm the price with you before we start.

How long does a repair take?

Most repairs are finished within two weeks, and many quotes are given while you wait. If you need a piece back for a particular date, let us know and we’ll do our best to work to it.

Can you resize any ring?

Most rings can be resized up or down, including antique, eternity and stone-set pieces, though these need extra care and we’ll always tell you honestly what’s possible first. Some full-eternity and certain tension or titanium settings can’t be altered; bring it in and a goldsmith will look at it with you.

Do you repair jewellery bought elsewhere?

Yes. We repair and restore pieces bought anywhere, including inherited jewellery and pieces from other jewellers, all worked on by hand at our Diss workshop.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed for repairs. Walk in during opening hours and we’ll look at your piece with you. If you’d like to be sure a particular goldsmith is free, call ahead on 01379 644790.
