Each piece is acid- or electronically tested for its carat and weighed on calibrated scales while you watch. Nothing leaves your sight or goes out the back.

What you’re paid is the live market gold price, applied to the tested purity and exact weight of your pieces, worked out in front of you.

Priced on the day. Gold moves daily, so we quote against that morning’s per-gram rate for each carat (9, 14, 18, 22, 24), and show you the rate we’re using.

No hidden deductions. We don’t take off vague “handling” or “refining” margins after the fact. The weight you see and the rate we quote are the figure you’re paid.

Sell to the people who make and melt gold every day, not a pop-up counter or a freepost envelope to an address in another county.

A real workshop, est. 1975. At the bench in Diss since 1975. You stand across the counter from the goldsmith testing and weighing your gold, a face, a name and a fixed address, not a PO box.

Honest weights, fair prices. If a piece is worth more kept, repaired or remodelled than melted, we’ll say so. Sometimes the best advice is don’t sell it.

Let’s see
what it’s worth.

Thank you, your enquiry is on its way. We’ll be in touch, usually within two working days (Mon–Sat). For anything urgent, call 01379 644790.
How much is my scrap gold worth?

It depends on weight and carat. We test each piece for its gold content, weigh it on calibrated scales, and apply that day’s live per-gram price for its carat, then show you the maths. Bring it in or post it for a firm figure with no obligation.

Do I need a hallmark or any paperwork to sell?

No. A hallmark helps confirm carat, but we test unmarked and foreign gold ourselves so it’s never essential. For higher-value transactions we’ll ask for photo ID, in line with our duty to record who we buy from.

Can I post my gold to you?

Yes. If you’re not local to Diss we’ll talk you through our secure, insured postal process, test and weigh everything on arrival, and call you with the figure before anything is melted. You’re free to say no and have it sent straight back.

Do you buy gold-plated or gold-filled jewellery?

Gold-plated items hold only a microscopic amount of gold and generally aren’t worth buying. We’ll tell you honestly if that’s what you have. Gold-filled and rolled-gold pieces carry more, so we test those to see what’s genuinely recoverable.

How will I be paid, cash or bank transfer?

Whichever suits you. We pay the same day by cash for smaller amounts or by bank transfer for larger ones, agreed before we proceed. There’s never any obligation to sell once you’ve heard the figure.

Do you buy silver and platinum as well?

We do. Sterling silver, platinum and palladium jewellery and items are tested and weighed on the same transparent basis as gold. Bring it along with anything else and we’ll go through it piece by piece.

Can I take the value as shop credit?

Yes, and you’ll get 10% more than the cash value if you do. Many customers put it towards a repair, a remodel or a new commission, and we’ll always talk those options through before you sell.

Do you buy finished or antique jewellery, not just scrap?

Yes. As well as scrap for melting, we buy second-hand and antique pieces for resale, assessed individually on their stones, period and condition, which often means more than the gold weight alone.
