Old gold,
new memories.
The ring in the drawer. Your mother’s brooch. The chain that broke years ago. Bring us the pieces you no longer wear, and we’ll redesign them into something you will: a modern, everyday heirloom that keeps the gold and stones, and the story they carry. Family-run in Diss since 1975, we’ve remade heirlooms at the same bench for over fifty years.
Kept & reused
At our Diss bench
Free & unhurried
A remodel isn’t about starting over. It’s about carrying something forward. The jewellery we’re handed rarely suits the life we live now, but the love held inside it always does.
Nothing is lost. Your gold is melted and remade, your stones lifted and reset, so the piece you wear every day is literally made from the ones you couldn’t.
The memory comes with it. A grandmother’s hallmark kept inside the band, three worn rings becoming one, a brooch no one wore reborn as a pendant. The story keeps going.
Yours, made
yours again.
(01)
The sitting
Bring the pieces: broken, tangled, whatever state they’re in. We look at them together, talk about what they mean and what they might become. No obligation, ever.
Week 1
(02)
Designed from your pieces
Yvonne develops hand-drawn illustrations built around your own gold and stones, so you can see the new piece before it’s made. We’ll tell you honestly what can be reused, what’s better set aside, and what a new design might need.
Weeks 2–3
(03)
Presented & quoted
We show you the illustrations and agree a price; a 30% deposit then secures the work. Where a design calls for it, a wax to try first.
Week 4
(04)
Made at the bench
Your gold melted and recast, your stones reset, then hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office, your family’s marks kept where we can, alongside ours.
Weeks 5–11
(05)
The reveal
Collected at the bench where it was made. The pieces you couldn’t wear become one you won’t take off, and in time will hand on.
Week 12
“Three rings she never wore became one she never takes off.”
Begin your remodel ↗︎Rings into a ring
Several tired rings (an engagement ring, an eternity band, a worn wedding ring) melted and reset into one piece you’ll wear every day.
Brooches into pendants
The brooch no one wears anymore, lifted and reset as a pendant or a pair of earrings that finally see daylight.
Loose stones, reborn
Inherited diamonds and coloured stones in dated settings, lifted and reimagined into a new piece, often a bespoke engagement ring, that suits the way you live now.
“They melted my mum’s broken jewellery into a ring I’ll wear forever. I cried at the bench — happy tears. It still feels like her.”
Marianne — remodelled her mother’s goldWill you reuse my own gold and stones?
Yes. That’s the heart of a remodel. We melt and re-alloy your gold and lift your stones to reset them. Occasionally heirloom metal needs refining first, or there isn’t quite enough to make the piece. We’ll tell you plainly at the bench before anything is touched.
What if there isn’t enough gold?
We top it up with matching recycled gold of the same carat. Your original metal still goes into the piece, so the memory stays in it. There’s just a little more to hold the design.
Can you keep the original hallmarks?
Where a piece is sturdy enough, we can preserve an old hallmark and set it inside the new design. When the gold is fully melted that isn’t possible, but we’ll photograph and record the marks for you first, so they’re never lost.
I don’t know what I want yet. Is that ok?
More than ok. Most people arrive with a feeling and a shoebox of jewellery, not a design. That’s exactly what the first sitting is for. The new piece grows out of the conversation.
What does a remodel cost?
Every remodel is priced individually once we’ve seen your pieces, but a simple reset of your own stones starts from around £650, while a full redesign typically begins from around £1,200. We agree the price before any work starts. No surprises.
Pop in with the jewellery you no longer wear. The kettle’s on. There’s no charge and no obligation for the first conversation, and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.
