Rhodium
plating & re-finishing.

White gold that’s turned warm hasn’t worn out. It’s worn through its plating, the layer that gives white gold its bright, cool-white shine until daily wear thins it and the warmer gold beneath shows through. We strip back the old finish, polish the piece, and re-plate it by hand in bright rhodium. A quick re-plate puts it right.

Bright, even and white. We clean and polish the piece first, then re-plate it so the colour is uniform, no warm patches where the old plating wore thin.

More than white gold. Rhodium also brightens and protects silver and refreshes worn settings. Ask us if you’re not sure whether your piece will benefit.

Common questions about rhodium plating

Pop in to ask

How much does rhodium plating cost?

A single ring re-plate starts from around £55. Larger or more intricate pieces, and full sets, cost a little more, typically up to about £90. As our prices move with the rhodium price, we’ll always confirm before any work begins.

How often does white gold need re-plating?

It varies with wear, but every 12–24 months is typical for a ring worn daily. Pendants and earrings last far longer, as they take less knocking about.

Because the plating does wear, we offer a loyalty service: leave us your contact details and we’ll get in touch to re-plate your jewellery annually at a reduced fee, keeping the finish bright and protecting the gold beneath.

My white gold ring looks yellow. Is it damaged?

Not at all. The rhodium plating has simply worn thin and the natural gold colour is showing through. A re-plate restores the white finish.

Can you re-plate around stones?

Yes. We mask and protect stones as needed, though very porous or delicate gems are assessed first so nothing is put at risk.

Bring back the white.
