Bespoke
These gold plated guitar knobs are part of a bespoke handmade guitar. The maker of the guitar contacted us to see whether we could put some bespoke ruby markers into the dials. After deciding on the best method to do this our jewellers used solid 9ct rub over collets to mount the rubies to give them more prominence and durability. A luxury touch for a beautiful bespoke item.
Notes from the workshop
Setting stones into an instrument rather than a piece of jewellery means designing for grip and vibration as much as looks. Rub-over collets hold a stone fully round its girdle, which is what keeps these rubies secure even as the guitar is played.
