Sometimes the unusual steps into our shop and we all jump at the chance to do something never been done before. This ring was one of those cases, an antique in its own right, a beautiful peacock ring, but needing a complete restoration on the diamond feathers and sadly missing its entire peacock body.
After discussions and drawings based on memory with our customer, the design for the new peacock body was finalised. Rub-over set in the belly of the peacock is a marquise diamond, with each of the delicate features of head, quill and legs hand carved into a wax model. The wax was used to fit the body perfectly to the still existing frame of feathers, and then transformed into metal using a lost wax casting method. Once the body was in the metal and soldered into place, the ring was restored to its former glory. The diamond was set and a final polish given to the unusual ring.
