This 9ct yellow gold, diamond and opal brooch started life as a plain brooch shipped over from Australia during the war. Sentimental and kept for many years, these opals now have a new lease of life in this naturalistic diamond and gold brooch. The diamonds and opals are accented with granulated gold balls, and bespoke set into collets which represent wheat sheaves.
Notes from the workshop
Wheat-sheaf brooches were a popular Victorian and Edwardian motif, worn as a symbol of prosperity and the harvest, a fitting shape for stones that had already made one long journey home from Australia.
