Jewellery heirlooms are passed on through families for generations. Sometimes these pieces become too worn or damaged to wear, or they contradict our personal taste. In this particular case our client inherited several rings set with emeralds, amethysts and diamonds, which she wanted to transform in to a showstopper of a ring. The final design is a weighty platinum piece with gold detailing, all the stones are set in a rub over style giving the piece a contemporary feel whilst also preserving that great sentimental value.
Notes from the workshopRub-over or bezel setting is when a stone is enveloped in a surrounding ring of metal. This style of setting is ideal for those with an active lifestyle as the rim of metal offers protection around the edge of the stone.
