Bespoke
This 12.00ct amethyst was brought to us loose by our customer. The design was inspired by an existing ring found by the customer; an amethyst with two smaller round diamonds either side and a cross over shank. The ring was made bespoke to fit the large stone in 9ct white gold and then rhodium plated to bring out the colour in the amethyst.
Notes from the workshop
Amethyst is a variety of quartz, coloured by trace iron in the crystal. Clean, well-coloured stones become harder to find as the carat size goes up, which is part of what made a stone this size worth designing an entire ring around.
