Common questions about valuations
How much does a valuation cost?
Valuations start at £75 for the first item and £65 for each item after, for non-complex pieces. Collections of five or more that are gem-set or complex are charged at £75 per hour for the additional research needed, pro-rated for the time actually taken. Highly complex items and branded watches are £150 per item, and gem testing or laboratory reports are quoted individually. We’ll always confirm the cost with you before we begin.
What types of valuation do you offer?
Insurance, probate, private sale, divorce and family separation, and sales between two parties, each documented clearly for its purpose, and assessed in-house by our own goldsmiths.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. Valuations are by appointment, so a goldsmith can give your pieces proper, unhurried attention. Send us a request and we’ll usually reply within two working days.
Should I bring any paperwork?
If you have receipts, certificates or previous valuations, do bring them along. They help, but they’re not essential. We assess every piece in person, on its own merits.
How long does a valuation take?
For straightforward pieces it’s often completed within the appointment; more detailed or antique items may take a little longer. We’ll always tell you what to expect before we start.
