Cobalt and Treated Blue Diamond Ring

Cobalt is not usually a material that we use, but our customer satisfaction always gets the better of us. Our customer brought in a cobalt ring set with a CZ. Planning on using the ring as an engagement ring meant that the CZ would unfortunately be unsuitable. To bring a bit of colour and life to the ring whilst being durable for everyday wear, we suggested a treated blue diamond that we had in stock. Our workshop altered the ring and reset the blue diamond in the cobalt collet. Cobalt is an extremely hard metal which is being promoted by online retailers as a wedding ring solution. Whilst this is true, it is exceptionally difficult to work with as jewellers, meaning that ring sizing in future is currently impossible.
